The chemical industry of India is one of the leading industries of our country. It is currently holding the 6th position in the world and the 3rd position in the continent of Asia when it comes to the size of the industry. These industries of India provide a variety of chemicals and chemical products which are very much useful in our day to day lives and are also used as raw materials for several other industries. These companies of India have been contributing a lot to the industrialization of this country for the years and continues to do so in a prominent and efficient manner. The chemical industry of India has got six divisions and there are namely the basic organic  and, special chemicals, pesticides, chor-alkali, dyestuff and the alcohol based chemicals. So, you can certainly imagine the huge variety of production of chemicals that this industry is responsible for. Some of the most common chemic that are produced over here are formaldehyde and acetic acid and other aldehyde derivatives, several kinds of aromatic compounds such as benzene, cumene and propylene derivatives, alkyl amines which are used for the manufacturing surfactants, pyridine which is used for the manufacturing of pharmaceuticals and ethanol acetate and its various derivatives.

There are arrays of speciality chemic which are used for several household purposes and are also used as the primary raw materials in certain industries. These speciality chemicals are manufactured by the chemical industry of India. Some of these speciality chemicals are cosmetic chemicals, paper chemicals, perfumes and fragrances, water ink, water chemicals, rubber chemicals, printing inks, textile chemicals, speciality polymers, plastic additives, construction chemicals and several such other speciality chemicals. The speciality chemicals help in the much necessary growth in other industries of our country such as the automobile companies where paints and such types of chemical products are frequently used. Then there’s the construction company where to make the ceilings one needs polymers and its other derivatives. Speciality chemicals are also used in ponds and lakes where there are several species of fish and aquatic animals as it helps to control the biological oxygen demand and the chemical oxygen demand. Speciality chemicals are also extensively used in various textile companies as well as for personal care.

The industry of India is one of the world’s largest chemical manufacturing companies when it comes to the production of caustic soda and several other types and kinds of alkalis. Asia has the highest alkali consumption rate and as well as the highest alkali production rate. The demand of alkalis such as caustic soda from the textile industries as well as the paper industries is the highest in India. The state of Gujarat in India is the country’s highest caustic soda manufacturing state and it has maintained the top position for a number of years now. Now comes the manufacture of liquid chlorine and so, due to the huge global production of chlorine, the chemical industry of India has experienced that the production of liquid chlorine being always given the due priority.
